Even though over one billion people use Facebook today, many folks still get confused when it comes to Facebook pages versus Facebook groups. This is especially true when it comes to the major difference between Facebook groups and Facebook pages.
A FB profile is a Facebook user’s personal page. It’s where they list their friends, their interests, their group memberships, and their recent activity on Facebook. The profile is where a Facebook user can control which parts of their profile are visible to other Facebook members.
Now let’s look at FB groups. Any Facebook user can create a Facebook group and then invite other Facebook users to join that group. Administrators of the group can message all the members of a group. Groups are limited to 5000 or less members.
Now let’s look at FB pages. These used to be known as fan pages. Any Facebook user can create a page and then invite other Facebook users to become a fan of that page. Facebook pages can be organized around any common interest or theme and they can be used to send out bulk messages to all the fans of those pages. Pages are ideal for businesses. Pages can have an unlimited number of fans.
